About Adler Mediequip Pvt. Ltd.
The Sushrut-Adler Group was born in 1973 with the incorporation of Adler Mediequip Pvt. Ltd., by Mrs. Vimal Pitre, a first generation entrepreneur. She was inspired by orthopaedic surgeon friends who, at the time, were exposed to numerous advances in fracture management leading to the emergence of a large variety of fracture management implants and instrumentation on the one hand and poor availability of good quality cost effective products in India on the other.
The realization of ensuring quality and safety for implants led to the setting up of the first manufacturing unit in October 1973 in a small plot of land adjoining the ancestral home of the family in the village of Devrukh, located about 300 kilometers south of Bombay.
With the setting up of Adler Mediequip Pvt. Ltd. the eventual manufacturing company of the group in 1992, Sushrut embarked on a different journey; one focused on developing and strengthening the brand and forging meaningful relationships with the orthopaedic community in the country. Key elements of this strategy were put into place with the induction of a professional marketing team and making a beginning in terms of participation in academics and surgeon education activities.

More recently, the international brand-building effort has seen participation in orthopaedic congresses in various countries as well as the organization of surgeon training workshops overseas in select markets. Of note is the workshop on limb salvage surgery organized in the largest university hospital in Thailand in 2009 with the help of surgeons from the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai who shared information and knowledge with Thai surgeons on limb salvage techniques and technologies.
